About this book

The Visual Investor, Second Edition breaks down technical analysis into terms that are accessible to even individual investors. Aimed at the typical investor--such as the average CNBC viewer--this book shows investors how to follow the ups and downs of stock prices by visually comparing the charts, without using formulas or having a necessarily advanced understanding of technical analysis math and jargon. Murphy covers all the fundamentals, from chart types and market indicators to sector analysis and global investing, providing examples and easy-to-read charts so that any reader can become a skilled visual investor.

Good book overall. A little outdated however the middle part of the book demonstrates how to use all those indicators of charts you never know what it means. The book is full of examples so 300 pages is actually more like 150 of reading.

I had a basic idea of technical analysis, or Visual Investing as Mr. Murphy refers to it, prior to starting this book. I found the book to be a great description of the main ideas of charting and their application. I would recommend it to anybody wanting to learn about reading charts and improving their trading skills.

This is a very good book for people who are learning how to use technical indicators, read charts to see trends and patterns, and look for leading indicators using commodities, bond futures, relative strength, etc. I'm going to read this book again after I've had a chance to digest the first reading.
